How Much Does a Resin Driveway Cost in Dublin? A Cost Guide for 2026

Resin-bound driveways are one of the more varied costs in the driveway market because the base condition matters enormously. A resin surface laid on a sound existing tarmac base is a different job from one requiring a new base course. Here's what actually drives the cost.

Why We Don't Publish Fixed Prices

Resin driveway pricing is particularly susceptible to misleading 'per m²' rates because the base preparation can represent a large proportion of the total cost — and that varies completely between sites. A customer with a sound existing tarmac base needs only the resin surface. A customer with cracked, uneven or soft tarmac needs a new base course before the resin. These can differ dramatically in total cost for the same surface area.

We survey first and quote from what we actually see.

What Affects the Cost

1

Area size

Total square metres is the starting point. As with other surfaces, larger areas have lower unit costs due to fixed mobilisation costs.

2

Base condition

This is the biggest variable in resin driveway pricing. If the existing tarmac or concrete base is sound, structurally stable, and free of significant cracks, the resin can go directly on top. If the base is compromised, a new tarmac base course must be laid first — adding significant cost. We assess the base at the site survey and will be direct about what's needed.

3

Aggregate type

Natural gravel, basalt, marble chips, and specialist blends all have different material costs. Standard 2–5mm natural pea gravel is the most common and typically the lowest material cost. Marble and specialist blends cost more per tonne.

4

Resin type

UV-stable polyurethane resin is more expensive than non-UV-stable alternatives, but essential for outdoor use — non-UV resin yellows significantly over time. We use UV-stable resin on all outdoor installations.

5

Depth of application

Standard domestic driveways use a 15–18mm application depth. Areas subject to heavier vehicle use or where a more robust finish is specified may use 20mm or more. More depth means more material.

6

Edge restraints

Aluminium or steel channel edging is required around the perimeter. The linear metres of edging required and the specification chosen affect cost.

7

Feature banding

A border in a contrasting colour aggregate, or a central feature in a different aggregate, adds material and labour time compared to a single aggregate throughout.
