Gravel Driveways Dublin — Loose and Resin-Bound Gravel
Loose and resin-bound gravel driveways. Cost-effective, permeable, and low maintenance.
Gravel driveways are the most cost-effective option for large areas, and they handle Irish rainfall better than any other surface — the water simply drains through. A properly installed gravel driveway has a compacted sub-base with a membrane layer to prevent the gravel sinking into the soil, a depth of gravel appropriate to the use, and edging to prevent spread.
Loose gravel has one disadvantage: it scatters. To address this we can install resin-bound gravel (see our resin driveway page) which fixes the aggregate in place and gives all the drainage benefits with none of the scatter. For large rural properties or where budget is the primary concern, well-installed loose gravel with good edging works well.
We survey, advise on gravel type and depth for your specific use, and deliver a written quote within 24 hours.
Materials and Options
20mm angular gravel
Self-binding when compacted. Less scatter than rounded pea gravel. Good for driveways.
Pea gravel
Rounded, washed gravel. Attractive appearance but more prone to scattering. Better for paths and decorative areas than driveways.
Slate chippings
Blue/grey angular chippings. Contemporary appearance, works well against green planting.
Self-binding gravel
A mix of angular gravel with fine particles. Compacts to a near-solid surface. Good for paths and light-use driveways.
