Natural stone driveways represent the top tier of driveway surfaces. Granite in particular is essentially indestructible — it doesn't stain, doesn't crack under normal conditions, and looks as good after 30 years as the day it was laid, if anything more characterful. Indian sandstone and limestone are beautiful but more porous and require appropriate specification for Irish conditions.
We install natural stone for driveways, paths, patio areas and garden features. The most common applications we see are granite sett driveways (a classic Edwardian look that's seeing a major revival), Indian sandstone patios, and limestone flags for paths and terraces.
Every natural stone installation is surveyed individually — the sub-base and bedding requirements vary by stone type and application. We give written quotes within 24 hours of the site visit.
Materials and Options
Granite setts
Small or large cut granite blocks. Extremely durable. Typically charcoal grey, buff-cream or pink in tone depending on origin.
Indian sandstone
Warm buff, golden and grey-brown tones. Riven surface. Needs sealing.
Limestone flags
Smooth or riven surface. Light cream to grey-blue tones. Suited to formal settings.
Porcelain (as natural stone alternative)
Not natural stone, but often specified alongside it — lower maintenance, lower porosity, available in realistic stone effects.
Our Installation Process

Survey and specification
We assess the project and advise on the most suitable stone and bedding method for the application.

Sub-base preparation
Compacted MOT Type 1 to the required depth.
- 3
Mortar or sand bed
Depending on stone type — setts on sand, flags on semi-dry mortar.

Stone laying
Individual stones laid, levelled, and adjusted. Each stone is checked for correct falls.
- 5
Jointing and sealing
Mortar pointing or kiln-dried sand jointing, followed by sealing where required.
