Patios in Rathfarnham: What to Know

Sitting at the foot of the Dublin mountains, many Rathfarnham properties slope, so correct falls and drainage are critical to stop water pooling or running toward the house. We see a lot of mature gardens here where access and protecting existing planting need planning.

We work right across Rathfarnham — from Rathfarnham Castle and Marlay Park to the surrounding Ballyboden, Templeogue, Tallaght areas — and we'll travel to your property for a free site survey.

Patios for Rathfarnham gardens

Rathfarnham back gardens often step up or down the hill, which makes a flat patio harder but more rewarding. We build the patio as a level terrace, retained by a low wall where needed, so you get a properly flat area for a table and chairs.

Mature trees and hedges are common in these gardens. We keep the patio clear of major roots and away from the wettest, most shaded corners where moss grows quickly. Sandstone and granite are the favourites, with porcelain for anyone who wants the easiest cleaning.
